I believe it is a good idea for local governments to build tourist sites. I have two reasons to support my opinion.

 

First, building tourist sites can create job opportunits for the local people. In order to attract many visitors, the local government needs to construct places, where tourists can stay, visit, and buy things. As a result, many people are hired to meet increasing demand for construction work. Even after the completion of such facilities, many more people will be employed to provide services to visitors. This can help increase the employment rate and improve quality of the local people's lives.

 

Second, people visiting tourist sites spend a lot of money in the local area. For instance, they stay in hotels, dine at restaurants, and do shopping at stores, which helps the local government gain enough tax revenues to supply better public facilities and services to the local citizens.

 

For these reasons, I believe that local governments should promote the tourism in their local area.

I do not think that it is a good idea for local governments to build tourist sites, such as theme parks or museums. I have two reasons to support my opinion.

First, it costs a lot for a local government to construct sites for tourists. For example, when they build a museum, they need to pay a large amount of money for the construction. Even after it is open, they still need some more money to maintain the facility. As a result, they spend less on public services for the local people. Instead of building tourist sites, they should focus more on other things, such as building schools or hospitals, which directly helps the local people have better lives.

 

Second, building tourist sites can be bad for the environment. In order to build a large theme park, for instance, they may have to cut down many trees to create open land. Also, when many people start visiting such a tourist attraction, there will be a lot of air and water pollution. Some tourists drive around the area, while others may throw away garbage illegally, which can make lakes or rivers dirty, killing many fish and other creatures.

 

For these reasons, I believe it is a bad idea for local governments to build tourist sits in their neighborhood.
