[ essay 1 ]

There are a number of problems the world is facing today. Among these, nothing is more serious than world hunger, which afflicts millions of people in every corner of the world. I strongly believe more must be done to eliminate world hunger.

First, genetically modified crops can be one of the most effective ways to eliminate world hunger. By creating crops which are strongly resistant to pest and harsh weather conditions, we can expect a regular supply of food almost anywhere in the world. Also, genetically enhanced crops can help malnourished children and elderly people maintain enough nutrition to stay healthy.

Second, International aid is very important to fight against world hunger. Since cutting-edge technology in agriculture is available in developed countries, they can teach their skills and expertise to poorer nations. Moreover, they also provide monetary support to maintain the agriculture in the developing countries.

Lastly, we need to raise the public awareness of environmental problems. Climate change created by global warming has had a negative impact on world hunger. By reducing the amount of Carbon dioxide, we can lesson the threat of damage from floods and droughts, which contributes to a constant supply of food.

In conclusion, it may take years to totally eliminate world hunger, but with concerted efforts from all over the world, it is possible to eradicate it all together.

[ essay 2 ]
In today's affluent society, most of us enjoy all the creature comforts of the modern life, and tend to be oblivious to the fact that people in many parts of the world go without food every day. Naturally, we should do more to eliminate world hunger.

First of all, genetic engineering must be further developed and utilized to lessen the pangs of world hunger. Crops, which are highly resistant to pests and diseases, are a key in a fight against hunger, and genetically modified foods should be more encouraged and promoted to ensure stable and high yields of crops in drought-torn countries.

Beside development of technology, total elimination of world hunger wouldn't be achieved unless countries suffering from hunger were to develop on their own. Monetary aid or food provisions are often wasted due to ill-managed, often corrupt governments. Instead, the developed world should transfer skills and expertise on agricultural technology to poor-affected nations, so that they can learn to develop themselves against hunger.

Last, all the governments around the world should take stricter measures to deal with climate change. Increasing average global temperatures have already had a negative impact on agriculture. The countries in Africa are especially vulnerable to extreme climate change, since their arid soil and weather patterns are not conducive to farming. Developing countries must do the best to meet the world standard to reduce emission of carbon dioxide, while the developed world needs to give an example for sustainable development.

Perhaps, the biggest obstacle to dealing with world hunger is our ignorance of the ongoing problems. By making the hunger problems more publicized, and thereby raising public awareness, more people and governments are willing to do something to eradicate world hunger.
