[ essay 1 ]

Thanks to many technological advancements, we have come to enjoy comfortable lives. On the other hand, we tend to be oblivious of how much damage we have done to the environment. It is high time we tried the best to protect the world's wilderness areas before it's too late.

First of all, we need to realize that economic development and population growth have a negative impact on the environment. People irresponsibly have cut down a lot of trees in rainforests for timber and reclaimed land to expand industrial and residential areas. This contributes to the devastation of biodiversity and several other environmental problems.

In order to raise public awareness of environmental issues, companies and governments need to promote ecotourism. Ecotourism can provide us with a clue to how to live in harmony with nature. While it can help local economies and protect wilderness areas at the same time, tourists can learn the importance of the conservation, which encourages more people to participate in activities to protect nature.

Lastly, international cooperation is essential to protect nature. Since most wilderness areas like Amazon rainforests stretch across the borders of the countries, the efforts and resources to protect the environment could be wasted unless the countries in these areas work together to deal with the problems. To begin with, all of the developed countries must observe the international treaty to protect the environment, so that the rest of the world can be more encouraged to cooperate internationally.

Protecting the environment is the most important thing we have to address today. We are responsible for leaving the environment as good as possible for our future generation.

[ essay 2 ]

In these days of environmental awareness, it is increasingly evident that human activities are making a negative impact on the planet. Unless more is done to protect the environment, the world's wilderness areas will be irreparably damaged and lost forever.

First, economic development must grow sustainably so as not to cause too much damage to the environment. People in the woodland areas need to sustain their economies, often depending on logging, but cutting down too many trees can lead to destruction of eco-system, which brings up many environmental problems. Some species are also under the threat of extinction due to irresponsible development. The efforts to maintain the eco-system and biodiversity are necessary for sustainable development.

Second, ecotourism should be more promoted to both raise public awareness of the environmental issues and help maintain local economies. The local people who economically rely on exploiting wilderness areas can benefit a lot from tourism, while visitors can learn the importance of preserving nature, both of which can contribute to protecting wilderness areas.

Lastly, international cooperation is needed to better protect wilderness areas. The developing world must be provided with skills and expertise to promote eco-friendly agricultural practices. At the same time, developed countries are obliged to respect international treaties like the Kyoto Protocol to discourage over-exploitation.

In conclusion, we humans have long neglected the harm we have done to the environment. In order to live in harmony with nature, we need to do much more to protect the world's wilderness areas before it is too late.
