[ essay 1 ]

There has still been ongoing debate on whether or not gambling like casinos should be legalized. Some argue that gambling can raise tax revenues and create more employment opportunities. However, I strongly believe the disadvantages far outweigh the benefits created by gambling, and it should be totally banned.

Without a doubt, gambling is detrimental to mental health and cannot be justified. Some people are easily influenced and addicted to gambling, and do nothing but think of gambling all the time. Those addicts cannot concentrate on their work or study, since their minds are always preoccupied with gambling. Furthermore, Gamblers can also become easy victims of depression. Losing a huge amount of money gets them down, and they feel guilty by wasting precious time and money in gambling.

Second, gambling can take a family apart. Sometimes, gamblers borrow money from loan sharks, and fall into huge debt. At other times, they dip into family savings and get into trouble with family members. In fact, there are an increasing number of cases where couples got divorced on the ground of gambling addiction. Also, many children are reported to be abused or neglected by parents who have formed a gambling habit

Lastly, gambling is always related to criminal activities, and in one sense encourages crime. Casinos or horseracing, for example, have close connections with organized crime syndicates, and try to encourage gamblers to build up huge debt. Those with large sums of debts often resort to violence in order to steal money or just to let off steam. In general, the crime rate in gambling areas is much higher, and many people are addicted to alcohol as a result of their gambling habit.

For these reasons, I see nothing good in gambling, and a total ban on gambling is only natural for the benefits of the public.

[ essay 2 ]

It is generally believed that gambling is harmful and thereby should not be allowed. It may be true in some points, but I argue that there are many benefits created by gambling, which far outweigh the disadvantages.

First of all, gambling can help increase tax revenues. Naturally, many people are attracted to the areas with casinos and spend money in not only gambling but also food, accommodations or other activities close to the sight, which all contributes to boosting the economy. Also, more people from other countries will come and visit the area if it promotes gambling as one of its major attractions.

At the same time, gambling can open more job opportunities for local people. With an increasing number of visitors, more employees ranging from casino, hotel to cleaning staff, are needed to meet the demand. Thanks to this, the unemployment rate in the area will decrease, which promotes further development of the area.

Lastly, although it is often argued that gambling addiction can break a family apart, gambling can also be a way to keep family relations tight. Going horseracing with family members is a lot of fun, and couples have a good time together at night, gambling at a casino or having drinks at a casino bar.

In conclusion, despite all the criticism against gambling, I still believe there are many advantages associated with gambling, and that gambling should NOT be banned.

[ essay 3 ]

Gambling has a long history as a form of entertainment in many parts of the world. Despite some positive aspects on economy, I believe that gambling should not be allowed in society.

First, an increasing number of people suffer from an addiction to gambling. In order to make up for the money they have lost in gambling, they often borrow money from loan sharks and fall into huge debt. This encourages them to commit crimes such as a fraud, theft, or bank robbery.

Moreover, gamblers often have problems with their family. They spend most of their salary on gambling rather than giving financial support to their family. They also spend less time at home, and go out gambling all over the weekend. This destroys family relationships and often leads to divorce and alienation.

Furthermore, gambling can be detrimental to the health of gamblers, Naturally, places like pachinko parlors or casinos are full of smokers, and they only eat snack or junk food all the time while gambling. Also, some gamblers get severely depressed as a result of losing a large amount of money. This can lead to addiction to alcohol, or clinical state of depression.

For these reasons, I believe gambling should be banned. To achieve the goal, the government should take the initiative to get rid of gambling and impose strict regulation on this evil industry.
