[ essay 1 ]

Throughout history, prisons have been considered to be an effective way to deal with criminals. In fact, almost every country around the world has implemented this punishment under the law. I believe, however, that prisons are not the best way to handle wrongdoers.

[[ There have been a number of murder cases or political wrongdoings reported by the media. In the meantime, prinsions seem to have been increasingly overcrowded these days. I believe prisons are not an effective way to deal with criminals. ]]

First, while it has been traditionally believed that imprisonment can act as effective deterrents to crimes, most criminals don't actually consider the punishment when they commit crimes. This is especially true of minors, who have little life experience yet, and act compulsively rather than reasonably. After all, crime rates remain unchanged even if there are prisons in society.

Second, maintaining prisons in society can be too costly, and needless to say, this money comes from taxpayers. In fact, some criminals are willing to be locked up in prison [ commit crimes on purpose ], so that they can ensure their creature comforts like accommodations for free. This hurts the government tax revenues and imposes a heavy burden on low-income households.

Furthermore, Staying in prison for a prolonged period makes it increasingly harder for criminals to return to society. Being released out of prison with no particular skills at an old age, and often stigmatized as former prisoners, they will have real trouble finding a new job. As a result, they end up committing another crime and being sent back to prison again.

In conclusion, prisons don't work to reduce crime rates but if anything, it hurts society as a whole. Instead of just locking up criminals in prison, they should be offered more opportunities to rehabilitate and return to society, so that they feel sorry for what they have done and contribute to society again.

[ essay 2 ]

With the increasing crime rates around the world, there has been ongoing debate on whether prisons are an effective ways to deal with criminals. Despite some criticism, I believe prisons are necessary in society for the following reasons.

[[ With the long-lasting sluggish economy, there has been a gradual increase in the crime rate. Given the situation, prisons are an effective way to deal with criminals. ]]

First of all, prisons can help keep public places safe and peaceful. Criminals tend to commit crimes repeatedly, and when these law violators are released without jail sentences, they can threaten public safety. In order to keep the crime rate low and good order in society, prisons are effective and necessary.

Second, violent criminals must be punished severely with prison sentences. Not only does this act as a deterrent to crimes, but it also gives criminals time to reflect on the crime they committed. While serving in prison, most criminals come to feel sorry for what they have done and think of what they could give back to society.

At the same time, they should be rehabilitated in prison well before they return to society. In fact, prisons are effective institutions where criminals can learn basic skills for work. Well-trained and rehabilitated, many ex-prisoners are willing to contribute to society.

In conclusion, prisons are an effective way to protect the general public, as well as to give criminals another chance to get back to society. I believe keeping criminals in prison can help reduce the crime rate and keep the world a safe place.
