[ essay 1 ]

With the society aging and the birth rate growing lower than ever, Japan will have to make a critical decision on whether to allow foreign workers to join the workforce. Despite clear benefits created by foreign labor, there is also a dark side as to allowing foreign people to work in Japan.

On the positive side, foreign workers can make up for a labor shortage Japan is facing today. In Japan's aging society, the demand for nursing is increasing, and more nurses and care workers will be needed in the future. It's often said that foreign workers from Southeast Asia are better suited for nursing the elderly, and foreign workforce will be valuable to our aging society.

Also, in this day of globalization, there is growing trend that more and more people with expertise are working outside their home countries, and Japan should also jump on the global bandwagon to maintain competitiveness in the world. Especially the IT industry can benefit a lot from skilled laborers overseas.

However, it might be difficult for foreign people to adapt to life in Japan or Japanese work ethics. Since foreign workers are often required to speak Japanese, those who have low Japanese proficiency have trouble making the best use of their skills. Moreover, due to cultural differences, foreign workers will feel isolated, which may contribute to a higher crime rate.

In conclusion, allowing foreign workers in Japan may be one of the best ways to deal with the declining population, but we should keep in mind that it can create problems to the society.

[ essay 2 ]

As the birth rate in Japan has been decreasing at a rapid rate, the population is also expected to decline in the foreseeable future. With this downward trend, we will need to allow foreign workers in Japan to support the economy. However, there are some problems when foreign people come to work in Japan. This essay will look at the pros and cons of allowing foreign workers in Japan.

First of all, with the declining population, we will need more workers to maintain the economy. Today, baby boomers, who are made up of most of the Japanese workforce are retiring. With their retirement, we are expected to face a large labor shortage. Considering that the birth rate is decreasing, the only way against it might be to accept foreign workers.

Secondly, allowing foreign workers in Japan can help us learn foreign cultures and understand foreign people more. Today, the world has been globalized in many ways, and we will have more opportunities to do business with foreign countries. Therefore, learning other cultures and achieving a mutual understanding can give us a big advantage over other competitors.

However, allowing foreign workers is not always good. Giving an example, the possibility of increasing crimes is always a major concern. Today, crimes which are committed by foreign people have been gradually increasing. Therefore, with more foreign people working in Japan, the higher the crime rate might be.

In conclusion, there are both positive and negative sides to allowing foreign workers in Japan. Although foreign workers can bring some problems, they can help support our economy, and enhance cultural understanding. Before Japan makes the decision, it must carefully weigh up the pros and cons.

[ essay 3 ]

With the aging society in Japan, allowing foreign workers is considered necessary to maintain the Japanese workforce. Yet, some people still continue to resist this idea. I believe people who are against more foreign workers are ignoring the reality.

In this day of globalization, many foreigners are already working in Japan. Just a quick glance at the fields of education and business confirms the fact. Moreover, many Japanese are working in foreign countries as well, and this movement of people working all over the globe is on the rise. Japan shouldn't be an exception in the globalization of labor.

Second, the labor shortage is expected to grow in accordance with the falling birth rate, and skilled workers are already needed in several industries. For example, the demand for IT engineers and nursing care workers cannot be met relying only on Japanese labor.

Lastly, Japan has benefited from foreign labor in the past. In the 1980s, foreign workers, especially from Iran and Brazil, contributed to boosting the Japanese economy. Although their introduction to the workforce wasn't problem-free, it sure helped improve the economy.

In conclusion, Japan needs skilled workers now, and experience shows foreign workers can help. We must acknowledge the reality of this situation, and figure out ways to make it work.
