[ essay 1 ]

Today almost every student in Japan goes to cram schools after their regular classes or on weekends. Although some people are concerned about negative aspects created by going to cram schools, they also play an important role in education.

First, cram schools help students prepare for entrance examinations. Since the teachers in such schools are specialized in particular subjects, they can teach their students more effectively than those in regular school. Furthermore, most cram schools provide the best environment where students can concentrate on study. As a result, they are motivated to study hard, and their academic performance improves accordingly.

On the other hand, since students have to study at cram school until late at night, they don't have much time with their family. Sharing dinner with other family members is a good way to communicate at home, but most young people today are so busy that they have few opportunities to talk with their family and often feel isolated.

Furthermore, students, who attend cram schools quite frequently, don't have enough time for other activities, such as sports and volunteering. These outside activities are indispensable for building good character in children and developing their physical strength.

In conclusion, it may be true that cram schools deprive children of valuable time with their family, but they can also provide them with good educational opportunities especially to prepare for entrance examinations. Most importantly, parents must take the pros and cons into account and make a sensible decision on whether to send out their children to cram schools.

[ essay 2 ]

Parents today are often criticized for overloading their children with after-school activities like cram schools. Despite this, I will argue that cram schools serve a valuable function in the educational process.

First of all, the primary function of cram schools is to help students prepare for important entrance examinations. They also help students keep up with regular course materials like English or math. Some students fall far behind and need extra instruction to catch up with their classmates. In addition, cram schools provide a great opportunity to make new friends from different schools. Young people can learn important social skills by interacting with others who have different values or viewpoints.

On the other hand, cram schools are sometimes accused of only teaching to the test, thereby focusing only on rote-memorization, such as historical facts or mathematical formula. Moreover, students who attend after-school activities don't have enough time with their families or for their own interest. At a result, young people today are more likely to get stressed out and often feel alienated.

In conclusion, although some people are concerned about negative effects of cram schools, they provide students with access to education and a valuable opportunity to socialize with new people. It's clear that they play an important role in the growth of children.

[ essay 3 ]

Going to cram schools has been gaining popularity among students preparing for entrance examinations. These schools are useful to get into prestigious schools. However, going to cram school is not always good. Students spend so much time studying at cram school that they might have to sacrifice their precious time for other activities. This essay will look at the pros and cons of going to cram schools.

On the positive side, cram schools give students more opportunities to study. Today, students spend less time at school because of changes in Japan's educational policy. Some people worry, however, if the changes might impair the academic abilities of students. Cram schools can reinforce the lack of access to education.

Second, the most important reason why students go to cram school is to pass entrance examinations. Despite the continuing low birth rate, it is still difficult for student to get into high school or university when they choose a prestigious school. They have to study hard to pass the entrance exams. Cram schools help them do so.

However, going to cram schools has its critics. Students have to study even after school, so they have less time to do other activities. For example, even if you like playing volleyball in a club team after school, you might be forced to give up on it, because you have to go to cram school.

In conclusion, there are both good and bad sides to going to school. Although cram schools can provide more opportunities to study and chances of getting into good schools, they might jeopardize their free time with other friends.
