First, history is an important subject to learn, because it can teach us how the people in the past lived, what their lives were like, and how different our lives are from theirs. By learning history, we can also learn the mistakes the people in the past made, and the great achievements they made. For example, throughout history, many people fought with each other in wars, and many people were killed in religious conflicts. On the other hand, many inventions were made, such as the telephone, the automobile, or the Internet. If we learn history at school, we come to know we shouldn't repeat the same mistakes they made, and we are also proud of the accomplishments the humanity made, which encourages us and our future generations to work hard for better lives in the future.

 

Second, in today's society, history can help broaden our horizons. In this day of globalization [ thanks to globalization ], we have more opportunities to interact with people from other countries. They have different cultures and traditions from ours, so we may sometimes have trouble understanding each other. However, if we learn world history at shcool, we figure out people living in different countries believe in different religions and have different lifestyles, and different banckround with different ideas and opinions. Therefore, if we learn history at school, we gradually see things from different perspectives and start to respect other people with other cultures. In other words, learning history helps us better communicate with people from different countries, and keep good relations with other countries, which can eventually lead to world peace.
