[8]   [2021-2 A] Has online media destroyed traditional print journalism?
Will printed newspapers become obsolete in the Internet-driven 21st century? [2016-3 A]

[ Agree ]

First of all, traditional media, such as newspapers or TV, are not so convenient. You have to carry around a printed newspaper and you cannot read it in crowed places like trains or buses. Also you can only watch news on TV in a fixed place, and you need to wait for a news program which is shown in certain time of the day. On the other hand, you can check online news sources easily on your smart phone wherever and whenever you like. You only have to put key words to find new sources you are looking for.

Second, online media are more environmentally friendly. In order to publish newpapers or megazines, large amount of paper is used, which means a lot of trees are cut down in rain forests around the world, leading to environmental destruction and loss of biodiversity. Many people today are concerned about the natural environment being damaged, so they have chosen to rely more on online media

Lastly, online media allows people to put their own opinions online and see things from different perspectives. In many cases, online new sources provide a place where people can put their opinions or feelings about articles they read, so they can learn about what other people think, which can help them broaden their horizons. In traditional media, on the other hand, some newspapers or TV stations are baised, which may mislead readers or viewers in wrong ways.
