[38]   [2019-3 B] Should vaccinations for infectious diseases be mandatory?
It is generally believed that vaccinations can be one of the ways to fight against infectious diseases, but it is not justifiable to make them mandatory for the following three reasons.

First, there are some people who cannot get vaccinated, even if they wish to, because of allergy they suffer. If those individuals were forced to get vaccinated, they would experience serious allergic reactions, such as failure of breathing, which can lead to fatal medical conditions. Moreover, those who cannot get vaccinated for medical reasons might be treated unfairly in society, since many people today are still biased against such individuals. As a result, they might not be able to receive services they deserve, just because they can't get vaccinated.

Second, vaccinations are not always effective measures to prevent infectious diseases. Most types of viruses are transformed into new strains in a short period of time, which makes it impossible to provide proper vaccines in a timely manner. Therefore, a large number of people have been infected with viruses even after they get vaccination shots more than three times.

Finally, there are some safety concerns associated with newly produced vaccines. Since those vaccines are developed quickly without enough time to test them for safety, they are highly likely to cause serious side-effects after vaccination. Furtheremore, a long-term effect of such vaccines on the human body has not been well documented, so many people are afraid of or avoid getting vaccinated until they are sure of the safety.

For these reasons, I do not believe vaccinations for infectious diseases should be mandatory.
