[242]   [2012-1 B] Can Japanese manufacturing remain competitive in the global market?
In this age of globalization, many countries, especially developing nations, are coming on to be more competitive in the global market, and Japan has to get ready for fierce competition with other countries. In my opinion, though, I believe Japanese manufacturing will remain competitive in the world.

First of all, products manufactured in Japan have already gained world reputation as good quality, durable, and safe products. For example, automobiles made in Japan, like Toyota, are extremely popular all over the world. Although they are very expensive for foreign consumers, they buy them, because they know the cars manufactured in Japan are worth the price.

On the other hand, things produced in developing countries like China are much cheaper, but not so reliable as those in Japan. They look fine at the beginning but soon later have some problems or stop working completely. Japan is great at making things like computers, cell phones, and vehicles, which all require skills and expertise, and in this sense, Japan remain an competitive edge over other countries.

Also, products made in Japan always go through strict inspection, and they are shipped out on the market only when they are sure to be 100% safe. As many parts of the world are getting richer, more customers in the world will start seeking safety in products they purchase, and they notice things manufactured in Japan are the best of their interest.

For these reasons, Japanese manufacturing remain competitive in the global market. Our strong points in manufacturing are quality, and no other country can match Japan in terms of skills and cares we have for products.
