[239]   [2012-1 A] ---- Does advertising have too much influence on our lives?
I think advertising has too much influence on our lives, and it has some negative effects on consumers.
First, advertising makes people want to buy more, especially unnecessary things. The item advertised on TV or in a newspaper overly looks good, and people are often fooled by the ad-speak, or over-exaggerated phrases or prices. Sometimes, there is a catch in the advertisement, and a buyer has to pay more than the advertised price. I think many people feel sorry or regret after they bought unnecessary things advertised like this.

Second, advertising has large influence on children or young people. Snacks or junk food advertised on TV or through any media are attractive to all of them. As a result, many children come to have a bad habit of eating unhealthy food, and they are overweight, and suffer from various health problems. Also, young adults are influenced by cigarette or alcohol advertisement, and they are addicted to these unhealthy products.

Third, many companies are profit-orientated, and the advertisement they provide leads consumers to huge debts. In general, many people are addicted to shopping, and overly advertised products encourage them to buy more and more. As a result, many of them end up buying too much, and they are in huge debt.

In conclusion, many people are influenced by advertising, and the results can be harmful to consumers. I believe it should be regulated, and we should keep the risks in mind.
