One day, a man was at home watching TV while eating breakfast. The news program he was watching said that the number of the passengers who used the train line had been constantly decreasing between 2004 and 2006 and it was in danger of closing down. He was worried about it and thought about what needed to be done to stop the closure.

 

Later that week, he and other volunteers were standing in front of the train station asking people walking by to sign a petition. The man was handing out flyers that said "Save our train."

 

At the next town meeting, the mayor announced that the train service would continue operating, but the service would be reduced. After the announcement, most of the attendants, including him, were pleased with the decision.

 

A few days later, the man was on the way to work. When he arrived at the station, his train had just left. The train employee told him that the next train wouldn't come for another hour. He got upset because he was late for work.

At the next town meeting, the mayor made an official announcement to say that the train service would keep running, but on a reduced schedule. All the audience seemed happy with the compromise.

 

A few days later, the man was in a hurry to work. When he got to the station, the train was pulling out of the train. He missed it just by a few seconds. The station staff said the man would have to wait for another hour to take the next train.
